From Whence We Came
The vision of a church came long before the physical location of the church. Mary Pearson had a vision that she shared with her business partner Felecia Armstrong many years ago. Mary an ordained elder and Felecia had not yet excepted the call into the ministry. But they understood that before a church could be established they had a much greater assignment. That assignment would be the people that they served, a community of homelessness, mentally disabled, drug and alcohol addiction and a second chance re-entry to society. Mary and Felecia both knew that if the people were hungry they had to feed them, if they needed a place to sleep they had to provide housing. They understood that without this the people they served couldn’t hear nor did they want to hear anything else. So the plan was implemented. Six years later the vision of the church would come to light. They scheduled a meeting with Presiding Prelate Bishop C. McArthur Sanders of Partners To The Promise Conference of Churches and Senior Pastor of Canaan Christian Worship Center in Charlotte NC. Mary and Felecia along with Bishop Sanders and Dr. Wendell B. Taylor sat together in the spring of 2020 and drew up a plan and on November 29, 2020 the doors of the church Canaan Christian Worship Center Albemarle opened for their first service at 206 Arey Ave Albemarle NC at 1:30 pm.
